Use your imagination and dream big? Are you kidding me? Who has time for that?
Have you ever felt like life was just passing you by? Like there’s more to life but you just can’t seem to find that passion, zest and zeal that gets you excited and taking action. Well I was feeling the exact same way, until recently….
This morning as I did my spiritual practice, I was reading a chapter in “Creating Money.” Although the name of the book may sound a bit superficial, it is actually quite spiritual in nature and gives great insight into how we can integrate our Spiritual Nature with our Human Experience to attract whatever we want – that includes money. After all, according to the book, we deserve it…and I agree.
For as long as I can remember, it had been challenging for me to really see past my current experience. Sure, I want to create much more, but when I took some time to write out my five year goals, I was stumped. I couldn’t believe it – I couldn’t even imagine my life for more than five years?
After each chapter in the book, the authors provide Play Sheets to get you thinking about what was discussed and how it applies to your current situation. The actual chapter wasn’t even on using your imagination – it was on the power of joy and appreciation.
In the past I felt very negative and resentful when it came time to paying my bills or any other obligation I had. I felt very disconnected. But then I realized that the services these companies provide are so valuable to my life – safety, cleanliness, and most of all convenience.
Since that realization I’ve made it a point to feel joyful every time I pay a bill. I’ve noticed that since then I have more than enough money every month. I receive money from expected and unexpected sources, gifts, and support.
The thing is that most of the time we are so concerned about our “little selves” that we just forget to dream a bigger dream.
The authors of “Creating Money” suggested writing out ways that I might increase my joy in life. I began to think of small things at first such as a new car, another home, new furniture…and then something wonderful happened… I began to think about how much joy I’d feel if I created a multi-billion dollar business that helps transform humanity, I thought about how I’d be able to sell that company and have time and financial freedom, travel the world, create and build new thought schools.
My creative imagination took over. I felt light, liberated, excited and exhilarated. After completing the exercise I was buzzing with a new found energy that I hadn’t allowed myself to feel since a young girl. I’d cut myself of from imagining the possibilities because I didn’t want to be disappointed. I didn’t want to dream it and then fail. I was living and thinking really small.
Honestly, what have we got to lose if we dream big? Absolutely NOTHING!
In fact, I realized that when we dream of having or doing something we are actually looking for the FEELING we think that “thing” is going to bring us.
Think about that for a moment.
Let me give you a quick example:
Imagine you wanted to go to an exotic island for vacation. You dream about it and imagine it for two months. You think about how the sun is going to warm your body, how you will be so relaxed, how you will feel when the breeze rolls by while you drink your pina colada. Man, you are feeling good and excited about your trip.
Then the day finally comes when you head out to the airport for your vacation. They notify you that your flight has been delayed, when you finally arrive at your location it is raining and storming, your hotel room is cramped and smells like mildew…anything that could go wrong does.
Now ask yourself, would you have gone to your exotic location knowing that everything was going to go wrong? No, absolutely not. So what you were after was actually the FEELING. So use your imagination and begin to think about things that make you feel good and you will begin to attract those things.
So now it’s your turn, use your imagination and dream big – don’t wait!
