Have you ever done something that you knew in your heart of hearts you didn’t want to do or shouldn’t be doing but did it anyway? Well this morning I was feeling that way because of a commitment I’d made a few days back.
I know when I’m not following my Spirit because I instantly feel uncomfortable, butterflies in my tummy, pain in my shoulders or shortness of breath. My shoulders and neck were throbbing, I felt angry and very uncomfortable, something I hadn’t felt in a long time.
A few days ago a friend asked me to help him develop his business. I really didn’t feel comfortable, but I said yes anyway.
For three days I felt this tension and pain in my neck and my back. I finally stopped and asked my Self: “What do I need to do to release this discomfort?”
I immediately realized that Spirit had been speaking to me through my feelings and my body aches.
I knew I had to get out of the commitment I’d made, but didn’t know how. Then I realized, that I didn’t HAVE to do anything I didn’t want to do. I wasn’t honoring myself by doing tasks that drained my energy. In that instant my phone rang and it was him.
I immediately blurted out “I am not going to be able to help you afterall, I’m sorry.” I really wanted to explain myself, but I didn’t. I didn’t owe anyone an explanation.
So I just sat there quietly awaiting his response. He was disappointed, but said that he respected my decision.
After I hung up the phone. I felt fantastic! The stress on my neck and shoulders subsided and I was back to feeling good. Since then I decided to honor myself first and do what makes me feel good. Spirit was speaking to me loud and clear, but I ignored it.
Many people think that Spirit only speaks to them in one form or another – through a “sign”. But Spirit speaks to us all the time in many different ways, but the problem is that we don’t want to hear it.
We don’t want to hear that we made a mistake or that we should be focusing on something else. We want to do what we want to do and most times that causes us to feel uncomfortable.
So today I want you to scan your body for any pain/hurt, uneasiness or blocks and ask your Self “What do I need to do to release this discomfort?” Don’t sensor what pops in your thoughts. Take the first thing that pops in your head and ask “What can I do to honor myself in this situation?”
You’ll know exactly what to do. Once you take action, you’ll quickly feel a sense of power and confidence.

I just read your blog on spirituality, “Where does it hurt?”
What a fabulous read! Everything all makes sense to me
now. When going out on a new first date, sometimes, I
just get an awful feeling, and, I don’t want to go. Sometimes I go, and, I later regret not listening to my
gut instincts, intuition, or, spirituality. Everything all makes
sense to me now. I tend to get feelings about new people
I’m meeting, and, nowadays, I follow my instincts, intuition,
or, spirit. I just did this, as a matter of fact, and, I feel great
about finally listening to my gut this time. Thanks for writing this blog, so that, I had confirmation about why I was always having certain feelings during certain times of my life. This article has been a GREAT HELP to me!
I am so glad that you found this post helpful. By following your gut instinct you always make the best and highest choices for your life. Sometimes it takes a conscious effort to recognize that something just doesn’t feel right, but as you practice, it will become easier and easier to recognize what action to take.
